Custom Jumpgates - Problem

OK, I have created a new jumpgate. It shows up in game and you can select it and press the dock to dock with it. Your ships flys towards it and auto pilot kicks in and guides you to the gate. However, this is where the problem starts. Your ship will just keep flying sround, stop turn around, then go again over and over. It just not not dock.

ANyone have any ideas what is all needed to get a custom jumpgate working?

I have the hardpoints in just like the nomad JG. I would really appreciate any help on this.

Where is your dockmount hardpoint? Sounds like it's very close to the model, possibly too close, move it out a bit and see how you go (assuming you've added one lol)

I have them placed exactly like they are on the Nomad JG.

Ok, i've just looked at the model, if you have the same hardpoint setup, should work. Next thing that springs to mind is do u have a custom sur file for the model? If so, are the docking hardpoints you've put on your model, inside the sur file? If so, move then outside.

i think it sounds like the hardpoints aren't oriented properly. FL needs three points to find its way to dock, HpDockMount, and two corresponding HpDockPoints that lead to it. if the points are mixed up, or facing the wrong way pretty much nothing happens.

Does HpDockPoint02 have to be before ore after HpDockPoint01??

Before, goes to 01 then the the dockmount, if you're using the new HardCMP then check the z axis is pointing in the direction u want to dock, in otherwords towards the berth or other docking area

Yeah....make sure the "z" is pointed toward the center of the jump gate.
Then make sure the corresponding dockpoints are configured.
ie:

-----
gate
<-dockmount01----<----dockpoint01----<----dockpoint02 <-
gate
-----
