Starting from a clean Universe?

I am wanting to create my mod using no systems or bases from the original map. Using Freelancer Explorer, I am able to remove every system and am then looking ata clean slate. I can add a system and then add a base in that system. I change the starting character so they start on that base, but when I load the mod, the server launches fine, but the game will crash to the desk top.

How would I accomplish removing all systems and starting from scratch? Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Freelancer uses newplayer.fl and mpnewplayer.fl to determine what system a player starts in. You must edit the system values in those files, or name one of your new systems li01 and the corresponding base li01_01_base

How do I edit the newplayer.fl?

@ Blackhole,
I tried something like that recently in a "consolidated" type mod (for the fun of it). All the Liberty systems were consolidated into one system on various levels and I replicated that example with the other major houses.
Ended up with basically 5 systems on the nav map.
I started with Li01_01 as the starting point, so in theory everything should have been fine..but experienced that Crash as mentioned.
Now that I think of it, there must have been alot of conflicts since I tried using OSP lite.
I think if I had tried it on my server program..maybe it would have worked.
I won't know for sure until I try building that concept again. (I deleted it).

This did work. The onyl thing I left was the New York system and planet manhatten. I renamed the system and planet and base in the DLL's to what I wanted and I am able to start a server and start and launch from my newly renamed planet and system.

Thanks for the info. I will now begin on my new universe.
