Mountable missiles

Is it possible to make missiles mountable(guess not,but still)????????
Like fighters nowadays have.
Like a hardpoint for the gun,the same way missiles.You launch it,it dissappears,you mhave to buy some new.
It seems to me it was in Starlancer this way('seems' because I've never played Stalancer).
Looking through 3dbs in models/wepons folder gives thouts that it was the initial idea in FreeLancer about missiles.

Def doable, maybe a custom missile model, custom hardpoint to hold missiles only, limit the max ammo to say 6 or make the missiles take up cargo space, def possible

Oh,thanks Gibbon,I'll try to do something in the next 24 hours,but would you be so kind to give me maybe some ideas about how to,for I don't think I am good enough in modding,anyway,If I get results,I'll post them.
And about making custom missile hardpoints:do you mean use a hard.cmp and add
a hardpoint not from the list to the ship?

The inherent problem with this is that the missile launcher will not destroy itself when fired, as it should if you are trying to make it appear as though you have a single missle mounted to that hardpoint. Unfortunately, I have never heard of a means for accomplishing this.

Well.I guess this damage_per_fire = ... can destroy the launcher,but it won't solve
any problems.That's a pity,'cos making missiles mountable could have been cool.

I have personally never seen damage_per_fire do anything, nor have I heard of anyone seeing it do anything. Odds are high that it was something that was never implemented, even though the parser accepts it as valid.

I think i've seen the damage per fire thing working. It was on an old version of Rebalance an i had mounted a liberty cruiser main gun to a starblazer or star flier or something (a bug made it not have a weapon class). When i fired it clearly showed low damage tp the ship.

Why not just use a rocket pod or missile pod and limit the amount of missiles to six? You could have a custom missile model for the projectile

But then what if you have multiple missile pods mounted on your ship? You have no way of mandating where ammunition in your cargo hold can be fed aside from using a different equipment class for every potential missile hardpoint, and even then you cannot restrict the amount of ammunition to X of one type and Y of another; the only control is the volume of the cargo hold.

Use the Torp mount and set the launcher to be destroyed with 2 points and then add 3 points of damage when fired and you have a missile lunch that disappears when used.

Interestingly, with a mod such as the 'Gundam Missiles', and certain fighters, like the F117 mod, the missiles fire, but do so so fast, they'll eventually collide and blow up in your face, destroying the launchers, and occasionally your ship. This usually happens when firing from more than 300m/s Standard Missiles don't suffer from this, because they don't fire that fast.

The other problem, is the mounts on the F117, are so close that when two of the missiles blow, the explosion destroys the other missiles launched.

Sadly these things combined are not possible. It is possible to mount an ammo item to a hardpoint, but that has to be done in the character file and there is no function in the game that does it automatically because ammo was not designed to mount to anything. So anything you do mount can only be fired once and everytime afterward it would function like normal. This was discovered by Argh quite some time ago.
