Are there any new advances on .ale-files?

Hello.
The reason I'm asking this is that I started working on this. So I would like to ask if there are any advances on this topic? (Thats one of the last things to be cracked open after we can now create brand new SURs)

you should email Argh and ask him if he has any notes - he managed to create 'new' fx, edit ale sprite size & color and some other things too, before he left the community. check out the final version of his toolkit mod - it may be instructive to you
