an editor

i recently found a new file editor that replaces notepad. it is called notepad++.
it edits C, C++, Java, C#, XML, HTML, PHP, Javascript, RC resource file, makefile, ASCII art file, doxygen, ini file , batch file, ASP, VB/VBS source files, SQL, Objective-C, CSS, Pascal, Perl, Python, Lua , TCL, Assembler, Ruby, Lisp, Scheme, Properties, Diff, Smalltalk, Postscript and VHDL.

I prefer syn, though I appreciate that this is a personal choice. I used Programmers File Editor (aka PFE) for a while. A nice feature in syn that I haven't seen in other editors is that you can create hotkeys that will insert text that you define in a file - similar to auto-completion in an IDE.
