SP crash after cutscene

Can anyone tell me a likely reason for a CTD right after the FP7 cutscene? I can start a new game from the main menu and watch the cutscene until the escapepod passes by the screen, but then, instead of Manhattan, I get my desktop.

I have not messed with the m01a.ini execpt for the
Act_SetShipAndLoadout = ge_fighter, msn_playerloadout
line, which I changed to
Act_SetShipAndLoadout = ge_fighter3, msn_playerloadout
so I should start with a Starblazer . I've added the Starbalzer to the game with correct shiparch entry and edited msn_playerloadout loadout.

What else might cause this crash?
Thanks for any ideas/suggestions.

Open the saved game folder in My Docs, and delet any saved games.

Post Sat May 13, 2006 11:49 am

Well, I've done that - I don't have any saved games in my "My Docs\my Games\freelancer\accts\singleplayer" folder. Except the restart file, that is.
But I still get a blasted CTD. Are there any other files (game files- changes in any ini's) that I could have edited that would cause this crash? I've made a lot of changes so far, and I have had no problem whatsoever in MP. I can launch my own server, join, and play anywhere, including Manhattan/NY without any problems. But SP isn't workin with me ...

Try deactivating the mod, download and install teh SDK, then reactivate the mod. Sometimes with missing files, the game can crash. And you indicated two errors in your first post.

Ok, after another unsuccessful attempt (deactivated the mod and reactivated it - to no avail), I've uninstalled the game entirely and started with a fresh install.

Now, I'm not sure if this was a good thing or bad thing, but I ran the QuickFix-v1.0 that includes the SDK 1.3 (which is what I built my mod on in the beginning). I then activated my mod again, but I still get a damned CTD.

Then, as Chips often sugjests, run FLScan on your mod, to find the bugs.

A few questions:

What else have you done with your mod (and did you test it just before adding the starblazer to ensure it works?).

ro9ue
the prob is most likely related to the ship changes you have done

Ok, I've been busy the past few days (with last exams at school -- finally graduating this Sunday :-D ) and I have not had opportunity to figure this bugger out yet.

So far, Chips, I've actually made a huge number of changes ... If I run a CompareIt scan on any files I have now, particularly weapon_equip or shiparch, there will be innumerable changes, since I've made so many changes in those files. I know this might sound like a lost cause, in light of that, but I also know that just a few days ago, it didn't have any problems. And I know now that I still have no problems with MP - just SP.
And OP, (good to see ya, btw ), I'm not sure what changes that I've made would cause such a crash ... I haven't messed any ships up, that I know of.

I'm going to try taking out the Starblazer to see if that is the problem ... Keep you updated.

Sheez, ok, FLScan returned an unhappy report - 127 bloody errors, some of which I can fix, others that I am not sure about how to go about. And a fair number of them are in the m01a.ini, which, like I said, I've not messed with hardly at all ...

And has anyone seen this before?? I don't know what these entries are - or where the hell they came from:

[zone
nickname = Zone_Li01_001_Planet_Li01_01
pos = -33020, 0, -27925
rotate = 0, 104, 0
shape = SPHERE
size = 7000
comment = Manhattan
sort = 1
toughness = 1
density = 12
repop_time = 10
max_battle_size = 8
pop_type = li_p_grp, base_cluster_law
relief_time = 10
faction_weight = li_p_grp, 12
faction_weight = li_p_grp_prisoners, 4 <----------- uh, wtf?
faction_weight = co_be_grp, 10
...

These weird "prisoner" entries are in all the major house systems' inis; Br, Ku, and Rh all have them. "br_p_grp_prisoners" in Br files, "ku_p_grp_prisoners" in Ku, and "rh_p_grp_prisoners" in Rh. I have no clue what the heck these are or where they came from ... possibly corrupt SDK files? 'Cause I sure didn't put 'em there.

I'm reinstalling this blasted thing, starting from scratch. I'll see what I get in a bit ...

see what happens when you stop modding

Ro9ue those are in the vanilla files as well, another of DA's little cockups.

You'll find that SDK 1.3 gives you 120+ errors with FLScan, I can't remember the exact number as I use 1.5 and only get 20 with it.

Do any of the errors point to a ship or loadout that isn't in the mission ini's.

Welcome back btw

Heya, Bejaymac Yeah, you can say that again - I've gotten a little rustier than I thought, but hey - the girlfriend is totally worth the atrophy
No, none of the errors pointed to those things. They were primarily those "prisoners" encounter lines, a few pilot_story problems (non-existant pilots)m and a couple of trigger problems. But I've reinstalled the game now, gonna try using just SDK 1.4, which I built the mod on ( I know I said earlier that i built it on 1.3 - I looked in my files, and I actually started with 1.4), then reactivate the mod.

if you have no luck then just send the mod to me.. ill find it for sure ^^

Bah, okay, this is getting annoying. OP, I mailed you a few pics of my error report from FLScan, with 27 errors (most of which I am not sure how to fix ... B-)). If you get the chance to look at them, any ideas would be good. I can mail you the mod, too, but i'm guessing we'll need to do that via FTP.
