Incomplete SUN definitions: WARNING: ArchDB: Unable to find

Is this familiar? Do you hate it as much as I did when I was looking for relevant warnings in my mod changes but was swamped with these and other red herrings instead?

Grrrr....!!!

Microsoft / Digital Anvil did not complete the sun definitions in StarArch.ini.

Here is the completed file: http://downloads.rrjds.com/Fixed_stararch.zip

Put this together with my ENVMAPBASIC.MAT and ENVMAPGLASS.TXM fixed files from here for a complete solution.

You can then incorporate them into your own mod and/or other mods that are causing you these headaches, and you will have a clearer FLSpew / FLSpit log to debug your own problems and waste less time chasing red herrings!! Go a step further and add them into the .flmo files and you will have the fix every time you load those mods - unless those mods change these files, that is.

yeah noticed the same a few months back... actually not a big prob

Thanks again Chips.

And thanks again to both of you guys for your own terrific contributions.

Well no, Swat - but it made a pain of debugging my own problems, with hundreds of lines of the same message. Biggest problem to me was that I didn't know whether or not it was my changes that caused the messages - now I do!

PS - Try not to be so cryptic in your replies to newbs, Swat, you were one once too!

Cheers pals.

Still seeing new mods without this fix - I'm not big headed, but would like to NOT see these same warning messages since fixes are now available.

On the stararch zip fix file, is it just me or is that a broken link?

Links broken.... anybody got it and want to share please?

Post Tue Jul 31, 2007 3:58 pm

Forgive me for asking this, but what errors?

Post Tue Jul 31, 2007 5:23 pm

Various errors in the server log from the sadly rushed out Freelancer. Quick vbersion is, M$ didn't want to wait till game was ready for release so said it goes out now, ready or not. Shame.

+++ out of cheese error - redo from start +++

its stable, and you can't blame the programming team for having the rug ripped out from under them when their company was sold out - if you were a surviving programmer from MS's downsizing would you A. ask your new MS boss to let you do a thorough patch that would take several months, or B. do what your boss told you and fix it *now*

MS does not have a reputable game studio -> particularly after the shameful effort they put in to flight simulator X

Sorry pals, the link is now fixed.
