Camera zoom

Hi guys, does anyone know how to modify how zoomed in the camera is in turret mode? Its for a rheinland cruiser and the camera is too damn close.
Note, its not:
camera_offset = 33, 120<---This thing thats for normal view
camera_angular_acceleration = 0.050000
camera_horizontal_turn_angle = 23
camera_vertical_turn_up_angle = 5
camera_vertical_turn_down_angle = 30
camera_turn_look_ahead_slerp_amount = 1.000000

its something else. Any help would be appreciated.

No. The turret view is defined in the cockpit.ini of this ship. Take a look on the shiparch.ini entry and see which cockpit is defined for this ship.

Most ships don't have the turret view definitions in their cockpit.ini anymore and therefore use some sort of standard setting, but at least one ship still used it. You are able to use those entries in any new ship of yours.

Ah, found it in k_elite.ini.

Here it is:

[TurretCamera
tether = 0.000000, 6.709000, 29.226000
yaw_rotate_speed = 2.000000
pitch_rotate_speed = 1.500000
accel_speed = 5

Isn't in the INI anymore? It's in every one I've checked! Ah well.

Cheers thats all working now, is there any way of changing how zoomed in the ship is in the ship room window?

Post Tue Apr 18, 2006 12:52 pm

Not on a per-ship basis. You'll have to decompress the room *.thn file with Fled-Thorn, repair it with FLScan, then find the entries that correspond to the camera position and move them further from the ship marker. This has an effect every time you enter the room no matter what the ship, and can cause visual artifacts if you move too far through the scenery, so it's probably best to just live with it...

@mknote: Oh, you're right. I mistook that for the rear view. Of course the turret view is in every INI.

@Accushot: I take it you are talking about the little window in the middle of the ship dealer display. But is that defined in the THN? Or is there a misconception here?

Ah, I'm talking about the position of the ship in the actual ship dealer room and how to adjust the camera/ship position to get them closer or further away from each other. I guess we're talking about different things...

I have some big ships in my mod and have been able to fix external and turret view, but backview (v-button) is still inside ships.

I believe someone (I think it was Accushot) posted up a fix about that... where? I dunno

i think it was dev -

[RearviewCamera
view_position = 0, 10, -14

add this to the cockpit file and adjust appropriately - you DO need to apply it to all cockpits, or else your rearview camera will use the last place it was at, which could look wierd going from a capship to a fighter
