MS cmp importer probs

I must be barking, but the milkshape cmp importer used to work ok, now if i have it in the folder during startup milkshape crashes. Anyone else getting problems like this? Or am i just the lucky one?
I've got 3 versions of milkshape and have paid for the licence. The most recent one being MilkShape 3D 1.7.4.
I can't see whats changed. Is it linked to other files on the computer at all? I have reinstalled windows in the last two weeks but i re-installed it.

I had the same problem. Using 1.7.4 works fine but anything newer than 1.7.7 doesn't seem to work any longer.

can you import in a train? I tried and I got only the back of it and that's it. There's no middle part and the cockpit.
