how in blazes am I supposed to know...

I was looking in weapon_equip.ini.txt, just poking around to do some weapon damage modding, and the guns nicknames are like this: "gd_gm_gun01_mark04". How in the blazes am I going to know what gun that is? and also how do I know what wierd names like the one above the ships have and all the other stuff? Does someone have a list?
