Warp drive

Is there a way I can alter the cruise-speed for just one ship.
and/or, is there a way to (long shot) create a commodity that depletes the more you use a cruise drive/thruster.

Yea you can make a engine that gives the ship it's own crusing speed.
Just take from your contants folder .......CRUISING_SPEED = 600......
Lets change it to a warping feeling drive.
"CRUISING_SPEED = 7000" You can enter your own number.

Ok Open up your folder that holds your engines.
Your going to add that to one of the engines.
POOF!!!!!
You should have a engine with a warp drive.
I do not believe you need to add it to every other engine in order for this to work right . The ships with out it on their engine will just use the one from the Contants.
Where did I hear this? I don't know, I remember reading it on a forum awhile ago and I've never tryed it. I wanted too, but just never got to that point in my mod yet to try it.
So I give it a 50 % chance of it working.
But that is something I was going to do is make wrap drives that people can do.
Clan's can make three of their own custom engines for their clan. and they can have wrap drives but then it would reduse it's speed in combat. OR they can have it fast but it takes a long time to cruise charge...
But it would bring something to the game.
That was what I was going to use this idea in my mod for.
So if this is worng, just correct me. I just remember reading it on a forum somewhere saying that it works.

It doesn't work without some exe and dll hacking, if you can find Alcander's Freelimits patch then you can give each engine it's own cruise speed. However you will need both the officail 1.1 patch and the ****** ****** exe to use it.

**shuffles of with a new headache**

Edit - The NoCD hack is illegale

Edit - @ FD, Sorry bud, but it's semi-legal from what I understand, as there's a budget release of Freelancer that uses an official version of it. M$ being M$ they wouldn't allow thier security protection to be copied, so they gave permission to use the official noCD version instead.

That's the place I've heard it from, the free limits forum.
