mooring issues

Hello all.

I've seen references to this problem, but I haven't seen a fix.
I've got a pair of new capital ships, and I have them set to 'use_med_moors' instead of 'can_use_berths' in the shiparch.ini. The problem is, neither of them actually USES the moors on the stations that have them. They start the docking sequence, then just sit there, with 'DOCKING' showing at the bottom of the screen- no cut scene, no movement, nothing. This happens both with stock bases (Ft. Bush) and with a custom base that has DockMountC defined as a med_moor (copied the entry type from Ft. Bush's ini entry to make sure I didn't screw that up).

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Define them as jumps

Try adding the Ghost docking Mod script that comes included with the Freelancer Mod Manager and see if that works.

you can also set it as can_use_large_moors it works though i must admit sometimes the mooring goes a little slow

if ya use the thing i posted ^^^ then it will use the bases moors like you're a transport or something like that

Dragon- thanks for the suggestion- I'll try that once I get home to test.

unicornz- yeah, I could do that, but I did that with another test, and it just doesn't seem right for a cap ship to fly into the docking bay of another cap ship, and I'm trying to maintain some semblance of canon with this work.

bp- I don't think the ghost docking ring will work- all it does is rename the SUR for the docking rings, it doesn't affect any docking systems.

What the ghost does is make the dockring still visible but you pass right through it without bouncing off the sides or getting stuck...

Works on large ships. Give it a try and you'll see...I've added this to some mod's that were posted here on Lancers Reactor so that the ships can actually dock.

just dont change berths to jump in solararch, only change a medium or large moor, and donmt change them in any small stations then it wont dock with small stuff

Chips wrote a really good thread on this in the tutorial section, explains everything and dead easy to implement

I figured it out- turns out it was an issue with my engines' properties. I tweaked the set up for the engines, and it works correctly now.

I think I'm having the same problem you had... Same symptoms, anyway - it'll say docking at the bottom of the screen and move into position, but then it won't play the cutscene at all. The only way I can get it play the scene and land is by manually docking, in the case of planet docking rings. But as far as stations go, I'm out of luck.
At first, I had thought it might have been set to use medium or large moors, but no, the setting is can_use_berths. I can still dock with tradelanes, and all of the original ships are working fine.
If anyone else has managed to correct this problem, or if you happen back into the thread, cjabates, then I'd be grateful for any assistance that can be provided. I'm going to go and mess with the ship's engine settings and do some more testing, so thanks for dropping that hint earlier, cjabates.
