creating a new 3db model

Is it possible to create a .3db model. I can't find an exporter for Milkshape?

What is the difference between a .3db and a .cmp?

The reason I am asking is because i would like to create a new looking trade lane ring to go with a different way of travelling through systems that I am working on.

Can I build it with milkshape, export it as a .cmp then edit it with utf editor and rename it to .3db

I just want to change the structure/look of it but i don't know how to create a new 3db after building the structure in Milkshape.

yes, when exporting your model using the cmp exporter, put 3db as the file extension.

alternatively you can use the 3db exporter...

sorry for double-post..

and realistically, there is no difference between 3db and cmp as far as that both are UTF files. 3dbs are generally used for smaller models and may or may not include the textures in them.

The difference between 3db and cmp is that in the cmp-format you can make objects that are split up in parts.
