Buyable Lights

Has anyone found a way to make lights buyable on bases yet. I've been messing with them for hours, trying to converted them into buyable goods like the scanners and tractors but they just don't show up in the equipment shop.

Anybody done it yet?

yep... its possible but damn hard to realize
created 1 light once... but dropped the idea coz of too many problems

I'm not totally sure, as I didn't have the time to play the mod, but I think foxer has buyable lights in his 88 Flak Mythic Drive mod. Just have a look. If not I'm sorry, but I think I read something like this.

It isnt "buyable" lights, but part of the mod script is the option to change light colors(i think)
Whats buyable is cargo things for transports. Look at a Transport, underneath it there are colord boxes. You can buy those.

I'm not sure but if I remember right there is one MOD that sells lights but of coarse I can't remember the name of the MOD.
If I remember right they had to add hardpoints for lights and make lights available for sale, I would imagine like any other piece of equipment.

I do know that you can add options in the script.xml file that allows you to choose what colored lights you want on your ship.

The 88 Flak Mystic Drive MOD has the options to pick what color lights you want when you activate the MOD.
I'm sure fox wouldn't mind if you took a look.

You could do this pretty easily by using the code I built for the XML Toolkit Mod for Power Upgrades. Simply create "Power Upgrades" (with no stat boosts, etc.- just the necessary entries and nothing else) used an invisible CMP (an easy job- just list a standard Shield CMP without listing a MAT) that had a given Light attached to a Hardpoint on that CMP via its Good entry. That'd allow you to buy/sell/rearrange lights however you wanted.

Thx gents, I have seen fox's way of doing it but I would like to be able to buy them on a base. sounds like the hard point thingy is the only way. It also sounds like a big job adding all those hard point to all the ships in freelancer. Oh well, maybe when I'm really bored I'll have a go. Would i have to create a custom hard point to take the lights, i.e HP/Fixed/HPLight. Hang on, they are already attached to a hard point, Hp/Fixed/HpRunningLight

the hardpoint idea was not bad but it doesnt work... i remember that i tried the same but was unable to tell FL that lights are equipment... even when i coded them as goods they just didnt appear on the dealer
