Curious Question

Apologies if I am asking something that has been asked before but....

The SDK installs uncompressed ini files into Freelancer, but is there a SDK available yet to install all the THN's decompressed as well?

hey you stole my topic! I definitely think we need this, it makes sense to provide an SDK since THNs are compiled like INIs - i don't think there is one but maybe someone could write a macro or bat file to decompile them en masse

That would a deffinate plus for THN coders out there.

If they didn't mind a 40+mb download for that..

I would not mind that at all for something that useful.

But that said, the Scripts only comes to around 18 meg in Freelancer. Even though they will double in size when decompress, for transportation purposes, it is easy to assume that the recompression would half that again back to the original 18meg for the download, if not smaller. However something that useful can not be underestimated, it would be worth the file size.

I will think about it.

I should note, for the record, that I have had rather mixed results with the THN decompression app.- it doesn't decompress all THNs correctly.

I have had simalar experiences to be honest. Many do work, but some like some landing and take off THN's for bases don't seem to want to decompress properly. But at least a resource with all those that do decompress well would be a plus for those of us who work on THN's would be handy.

I also had problems with some thns. For example the Planet Sprague landing sequence, which you can see during the story is not decompressed correctly.

Of course already the ones that are decompressed right would be a very useful package to download, but for me it would be way better to have an updated version of the thn decompressor, which is workiong with all the thns.

Isn't there someone out there, who knows something about the file type and could try to find the bug and fix it?

This would be really great and I think that many of us would be very grateful!
