Very Strange (Refire Rates)

All of a sudden every weapon that used to fire at 8.33 now fires at 10.0 and all weps that used to fire at 4.0 now fire at 3.03.

I have reinstalled Freelancer from a shop bought disc that I have had from day one and even in a standard install these weps fire rates are still changed from what they should be.

This has got me flummoxed, can anyone shed any light on this.

regards

Confused?????

Make sure that you delete everything before reinstalling.

I have come to the conclusion that it must be FLIniEditor that is doing this, it is removing 5 decimal places from all the ini entries and rounding up/down the last number.

I have extracted the weaponsequip.ini file from the Data.cab file on the Freelancer CD and it still has the same errors in it. I haven't actually looked at the settings options in IniEditor yet but this seems t be the case when de-encyption takes place.

Any thoughts anyone????

Um... why aren't you just using the SDK?

Just a thought

Although it is a good tool, it has errors in it.

If you're going for a "purist" approach... erm... you could just de-compress the INI with BINI, just like the old days. I don't think, in the case of weapon_equip.ini, that that would result in a significant advantage in terms of accuracy or lack of bugs, however. As I've probably done more extensive modding of that file than anybody else has, and have re-written almost every entry, I can assure you that that file is actually not a significant cause of instability, bad references, or other problems. Mbases.ini and many of the Systems files in the SDK do appear to have problems, but these are ultimately fixable, I believe. I only wish that the extensive modifications I've been making to Mbases and to Rooms entries could be integrated with the SDK- now that I've gotten them done, it's rather a shame that they're going to be a "proprietary standard" when they add features that should be available for any modder imho...

Hi Argh...

Just curious, but why didn't you make your own "my_weapons_equip.ini" file and "my_weapons_good.ini" and "my_market_misc.ini" files (use any name you want )and reference them in the freelancer.ini file so you could leave the originals alone? Then, using a new DLL you could assign new numbers to all the new weapons you made and put them anywhere you wanted to.

@JustSomeGuy:

Erm... this question has nothing to do with the topic of this thread... I'll answer it in the Toolkit thread.
