SURs and Black Holes

Okay, I'm stumped. I am going to create a black hole for my systems mod. As Black Eagle pointed out in another thread, I need to make a SUR file for the black hole to be "solid." I can't get this to work, however. I cannot resize the SUR file, and I don't know how to make the black hole work in a SPH file. Here is the SolarArch entry:

[Solar
nickname = black_hole_sphere
ids_name = 60203
ids_info = 60204
type = PLANET
;DA_archetype = solar\blackhole\blackhole.sph
DA_archetype = solar\suns\sun.sph
DA_archetype = solar\blackhole\blackhole_core.3db
material_library = solar\blackhole\blackhole.txm
material_library = solar\blackhole\blackhole.mat
solar_radius = 1500
mass = 1000000000
LODranges = 0, 1000000

(Note: This is messy; I intend to take out several parts of this entry, mainly the archetypes and mat_lib entries.)

Any help?

Aren't SPH files having integrated SURs?

mknote - as buggy as the current FLModelTool is it will resize the sur ok - there is an issue with 'quick test' collision spheres but for the most part it comes out ok

Anton:

I have tried using FLModelTool, but I don't know how. I've tried resizing the nomad_lair_shield_gen.sur (almost a perfect sphere) and using the blackhole.cmp that came with the Omega-13 mod. However, it gives me a "Floating point division by zero." error, and it doesn't resize the SUR. In-game, I can still fly right through the black hole. And there you have it.

Anton,

I have a question .. I have tried to create a new planet but can't get a valid .cmp, I can get a .cmp ok , but I can't get any valid bounding box values, when I run FLModeltool. Not knowing the method of producing .sph files I tried .cmp and 3db files.., for some reason they dont work.. I have an idea Mephistoles got it to work.

Any ideas?

Harrier.

For doing planets, can`t you use utf to edit the radius? I`m sur Meph did a tutorial somewhere..

I think MACE is right Harrier. I haven't had time to look though i'm afraid.

hey guys, i'm back after a few months of absence as always.

anyway, you should try Dev's Sur tool. it may not look fancy, but it works well. i'm too lazy to search for the download, but its here on TLR.
