something not right...

i can mod any single thing in freelancer, and then freelancer won't start. any idea why?

More information about what you did would help...
But most likely if you have been editing your files you made
a mistake...one that the game engine cannot compute...
So it chokes and crashes...
But you said that Freelancer wont start, so by telling what you did, like which files did you edit and so on might help.

That's why it is suggested to back up your files before you start changing things.
You can loose months worth of work if you don't have backup files...

If you cannot find the error you will have to do a new clean install of Freelancer
and then install the SDK or the Unofficial patch...

*EDIT*
well, i got it to work. for some reason, the only way i can mod things, is if i have the large train mod activated with FLMM. i think it could have been pernamently screwed up, because once, it messed up with that mod, and i couldn't work freelancer unless i had the data of the ship in FL, so i just edited it in, and made it not for sale.

but now i have another problem, i can't start the server utility.

I'm not an expert but I would say it is your shields. I don't think you can have two diferent types of shield on the same mount. Remove all the freighter shield entries and you should be ok

Simply do a clean install of Freelancer and install patch 1.1
That's it, it solves any problem 90% of the time.
And with the explanations you furnished it is an even better idea.

More particularly, take out - {freighter_} part of it, then you can add the order one in the goods.
