Destructable ship
I'm shure this question got answerd before but i dint find it. Yes even with search, or maybe Im blind but.
I hered and saw that it is possible to create a ship with destructable components.
until now I Know.
What the sur file is responsible for, and that for every component in the cmp file is also a component in the sur file with the same name.
If I watch a sur file as text I see a lot of stuff in the header I dont understand, the the name of the components: root, starwing, HP.....
then the Faces, each defined by three vertices
then the x,y,z components of all the vertices
----Now is it possible to create a custom sure file by changing these parameters this way that the sur file fits my ship?
And if yes, which parameters are important, and which one is responsible for what?
And now the Cmp file
If I watch this stuff with the utf editor
I see a VMesh lirary with different LOD's
with VMeshData
the Animation stuff, whitch I dont care right now
the cmpnd stuff where I can chance the name of the components of the ship, of corse I also have tho chance the 3db filenames below.
ant then I get to the 3db files which contains Multilevel
I think this are the different LOD's from above.
The switch 2 thing, I think is the Parameter that tells the game at which distance whitch LOD is to be used.
and then there are the different VMeshPart---->VMeshRef
Thats teh stuff I found out
Now what is the VMeshRef and VMeshData?
How do I have to create tehm for a destructebel ship, I can export different groups in MS and then I get different 3db's with different VMeshRef's.
but if I whatch a ship created this way with several groups in the HardCMP I just see the root. the first exportet group of MS
What do I have to know there?
and is there something tricky about the components that should replace the componets that felt apart. I have to define them In the Ini's and there Position is defindet bi the DP-dmg-.... hardpoint.
But how do I create a 3db file? Just export a CMp and take the 3db out or what?
And sry for my english, I hope its understandable.
