Custom cockpits

Hello all,
Ro9ue here from Rebalance Mod.
I am curious about making my own custom cockpits. I know each one in the Cockpits folder has its own .CMP file and its own .ini -- that's easy to see. Now, I guess the thing I am wondering is what are the required hardpoints for custom cockpits?
Well, actually if anyone has experience in this, could you perhaps give me a quick rundown on what I need to do? I know I need to make a model file for it -- that can be done in Milkshape, correct? Just make it, skin it, and export like a ship, right? If I do this, do the same exporting rules apply to cockpits as do to ships (upside down and facing you)? And again, what hardpoints are needed?

Oh, and one more: how can I make DDS material files? That isn't a capapbility of Adobe Photoshop, is it? Is there a program that I can use to make / convert files to DDS? Thanks again.

Ro9ue,

You need the Nvidia dds add on drivers for Photoshop 7 .. then once you add these you can make ddds files in PS7..

The Kasdias texture guide can give you the method as well as the drivers:

Hmm, there is nothing inside the file that I DLed. Nothing in the Txture guide folder ... and I get an error when I put the plug ins in my Adobe folder

Well, shoot, it was a long shot anyway. I also have run out of time to mod at present - gotta put it off until later, maybe/hopefully spring break or easter.
