I get these messages at boot up, these are bases I've created in the single player systems, Omicron major 2 and the nomad base system. They seem to work fine but I get these messages. Can anyone shed any light on what they actually mean. I've checked the code over and over and I can't see anything out of order.

E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Common\CEqObj.cpp(463) : *** WARNING: alloc_equip: Archetype[0x8000bec6 not supported/equippable!

I also get this one shortly after. All the above are all yellow.

When someone enters the system I get these in red.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou

Okay, in the universe.ini file - if you move the base entries ABOVE the system entries (so cut and paste your base entries either at the top of the file, or even better, in alphabetical order with the other base entries (for perfectionist sake)), and those errors will disappear.

Next up - whom is in the system? Is it nomads, and if so - post up the loadouts of the corresponding encounters fighters. Of course, its possible that it is also the base - so what have you actually got in the system (object wise - like bases etc), and what loadout does it have? You have something mounted on a hardpoint that doesn't exist by the looks of things - and with that many entries, its likely to be fighters (if you jump into the midst of fighters at other end, then it could be that), or also possible (and probabily more likely) that its an object - say base - that has bad loadout, and this occurs because it loads the system up when someone enters it.......

If no fighters about when you jump in (no npcs) - then its def that option, so whats in there.?

Base one is Corsairs copied and pasted from Crete but renamed, same loadouts and all. The encounters are same ships as in Gamma. I have beefed up the Titans that they use with my own custom loadout and changed the weps that they drop. I bet it's a typo on one of the loadouts. Thankyou SO much. I need to get this working with stability.

is there any way of finding out which piece of equipment cpp(60), cpp(295) and cpp(463) is refering to. These errors seem to be happening all the time not just when someone enters my new system.

I can help you with one of the codes, Object(0xa10d6c43) = ge_fighter6, which is the eagle I believe.

Post Sat Jan 15, 2005 10:52 am

Actually I've just noticed, they are all pointing to the same equipment archetype (9ED8158C) can anyone help identify this.

Thx for the Eagle pointer though, that narrows it down.

Missing an archetype? Maybe you have a piece of equipment etc that is referencing a non existant archetype item - like in ships/equipment/guns - they all have a line like this:
DA_archetype = equipment\models\weapons\li_rad_missile.3db
material_library = equipment\models\li_equip.mat

What do all of your ships have in common? Do they all have the same engine or something? or same power supply etc..
(ps - I maybe 100% wrong about that, but its worth a peek )

Foiund it, it was a typo I had 2 __ instead of 1 _ in a weapon allocation for one of my NPC ships. I have green down the board on my test server. However on my actual server I am still getting base not found messages. If the clients are still using the faulty version of the mod would that cause error messages to appear on the server even though it is fixed on the server.

I have posted the updated version for them to download.

Thx guys you've been great.

I'd also like to take this opportunity in thanking Chips, Porsche, giskard, Mancer, supersnipa, BLACKASSIMILATION, BLACK TATE and many more for their superb work and efforts in providing the information and mods that are on this website. My mod is based on a conglomeration of all the work you guys have done. I have not introduced the ships yet but will do shortly, I hope. keep up the good work, Thx.

Your problem is on the loadout for the Centurion and the Eagle. I couldn't tell you what item 9ED8158C(hash: 2664961420) is without a complete hashcode database of your mod.

Has anyone got a way of getting rid of those FATE_DISAPPEAR error for dropping weps etc

And the use_item0 couldn't find target error for bats n bots

They are so annoying

Post Thu Apr 21, 2005 8:45 am

I have some information on the "cannot find item on client request".
I assume that because nobody else has answered this question, they dont have the solution to the problem. Neither do I, but If I explain what I know, maybe someone else can find a solution/workaround...

I believe In Pilots population.ini, the "Repair Block" is the issue.

"Repair at damage percentage" is the point where the NPC will use his nans and bots, so if you set it to 0.90 it will use it at 90% remaining. The important thing here is that the NPC doesnt fully repair to 100%, it appears to repair only once each time it is at 90%. So, if you set it to 1% (0.01) the NPC uses the nans and bots when the shield/hull is down to 1%, however, even though they may have lots of nans and bots they only repair to 1%. The point here is that the NPC will never fully charge the shield or the hull, it will only charge it to the percentage that you set to start using them.

It also appears that the NPC actually don't know how many bots and nans they have. This can be demonstrated by giving a nomad lots of Bats/nans and then setting the repair at 1%. Now what happens is that the nomad uses these until its killed, but, because you do more damage (i was using nomad blasters on it) it doesnt use all the bats/nans up and then dies, result = no "cant find item on client request" errors. If you shoot until they expire of nans/bots, then you get the error message.

The problem comes when you get into a prelonged fight with an NPC or you include small amounts of nans and bots for low level NPC, with this you get a stream of these errors.

I think the reason for this is that while its "alive" its trying to use the nans and bots, but it doesnt know how many it has (hence the streaming of the errors). If you set the usage to 80% you get a huge amount of these errors than if you set it to 1%. In these exercises I adjusted the timing settings, and the lowest delay settings seem to produce the least amount of errors i.e. zero delay time settings
But, if you have to set the usage settings to 1%, you might as well not have nans and bots on the npc.

Where I became stuck was when I tried to backtrack with countermeasures.
I guessed that as it clearly knows how many of these its got surely there would be an answer to the problem and a fix, but I haven't been able to solve this yet.

I apologise in advance if people already know this, however, this error has been unanswered on the forum a couple of times.

Oh, this is very noteworthy...if you run a server and have these error messages spewing out, it DOES increase the work load on the server. If you get 30+ players on the server killing NPC and then revert to no nans and bots for the NPC there is significant change in server performance. Obviously the more players you have compound these issues.

Hope this helps..and I hope someone else can contribute to this also

Thx for the input, will have to live with it I guess :-)

The FATE and item errors are caused by the player-looting code found in most mods these days. This information is already on these forums.
