Is there a way to "doctor" up existing game ships?

I've been wondering, is it possible to make enhancements to an existing Freelancer game ship, like changing the level capacity of guns, turrets, shields, cargo space, etc., using the ShipScripter, without using any kind of 3D modeling program?

I don't really have much knowledge in the 3D modeling programs, and don't have the patience to model my own ship right now, but I'd like to somehow make copies of existing ship files and enhance them without changing them physically.

The short answer is, "absolutely, positively yes".

And there are lots of tutorials in the Tutorials section that will show you how to do it, too

vfx_fan:
A lot of what you mentioned has already been done.
Check out my "Equalizer" series of mods, for example.

I'm kinda having a little trouble navigating here (I've only been around these boards for a few days), is there any way I can download these tutorials in Adobe Acrobat form?

I did go to a thread about changing ship statistics, but I didn't really understand it.

If somebody could help, it would be greatly appreciated! :-)
