Ship Hull Issue - Please help

Ok, a have created a ship that I got working in Freelancer. Everything seems to be working from the weapons to the engines, except one problem is driving me nuts...

When my ship's shields go down and I have enemies firing at it, their shots seem to go through my ship. They hit the shield just fine, but they are literally going through my ship's hull without damaging it!

I tried toning down the ship's max hitpoints and that didn't seem to work. I also tried moving it down in MS but that just made the problem more obevious. They do hit once in a while, but not that well, missiles seem to impact just fine. Am I missing something here?

SUR FILES! They are the actual physical hitboxes, the cmp modle is just the visual appearance. Get FlModelTool and HardCMP, follow the Tutorials etc. to show you how to put in partially customized sur files.

You can also simply copy an existing sur file into you shipsfolder and rename it to the same as the cmp file, just with .sur as the ending instead of cmp, it will already have an effect, as the game will behave as if you would fly, for example, a Starflier if you copy that ship's sur file.

With mentioned tool you can however, resize, reposition and stretch existing ones to approximately fit your ship, and with HardCMP you can check the sur file against the ship model in 3D view without launching the game (where you could only guess anyway, not actually see the sur file!).
