New Weapon Idea

I have an idea fr a weaponi have been calling the Parasite. Basically what im planning to do is make it so that when it hits it forms a radiation cloud for a certain distance. Basically what i need is the file that handles the radiation damage. The Parasite part is that the ship that it hits will continue to take radiation damage for a verrry long time, the idea being that a fleet could be hit with these on MP during a war, then the Parasite users flee for a while, then return. the people iht by the Parasites have lost a huge amount of money and hull and bots.then the parasite users smash them.

Also, another idea that i had was a timed bomb planted by a missile. It hits, then., about 30 seconds later it blows up, leaving the enemy fleet in confusion.

any help or ideas to get this to work?

Another idea: Lasting mines. Mines should last forever until they explode, allowing players to create minefields.

I doubt the Parasite idea will work, because I don't think you can just have weapons that create radiation. Plus, damage is a one time event. You can't have it stretched out over a period of time if you try to go down that route instead.

The indefinite mine idea...it would seem awfully pointless to use a load of expensive mines laying a field, and then only about three of them actually score hits. Plus you have CPU time to think about. Mines count as projectiles and have their own effects. A big field of them would cause slowdown.

Wouldn`t the mines drift towards each other and explode? Maybe if you take away the mines ability to move, make them very cheap and increase the range and size of the explosion.. It could work..

We have mines that are stationary and last for around 20 seconds or 30 seconds. However, if you get people laying 50+ mines that last forever, you will cause lag effectively on servers. They will also disappear once off screen (ie - 3-4k away they will cease to be)

uhhh, i was actually asking for feedback on my ideas. Not that i was likely to do them, as i cant even make an average weapon(as my modding skills lie in hacking others' work not creating) i was thinking that a better modder would take a crack at it

If you're just after objective feedback, I like the idea of a parasite weapon that deals slow continuous damage. You'd have to make it possible to dodge though, with that kind of effect.

The time bomb I'm not so sure about. Surely in the 30 seconds, there's more chance that they'll kill you? Why not do the damage straight away? That's the safer option.

versoth, how were the responses in the forums not feedback? I just read it and it sounds exactly like feedback to me. Maybe our definitions are different. But drop the attitude towards those trying to help out or you wont get help from them again.
