auto_turret = true ?

This may have been discussed before.
I've been told that having an Auto Turret switched to true will have no difference. Why is this? Something Microsoft forgot to remove?

Tis for NPC usage......you will see references to auto_turret in the pilots_populations.ini file;

<pre><font size=1 face=Courier>fire_style = multiple
auto_turret_interval_time = 0
auto_turret_burst_interval_time = 5
auto_turret_no_burst_interval_time = 0.1
auto_turret_burst_interval_variance_percent = 0.100000
gun_range_threshold_variance_percent = 0.300000
gun_fire_accuracy_power_npc = 6 </font></pre>

Setting it to false means that the NPC's cannot use it for firing at you from - like when they whoop you as they fly away from you.

So you're saying that if I put some autoturrets onto the mod Star Destroyer, the turrets will only attack enemies if you're not flying it?

Put it this way, auto_turret = true does NOT make the guns fire for you!

Doubt it, you'd need to somehow get the AI to run part of your ship (ie, the turret(s)). I don't think that'd be possible w/o the source code.

People have tried to make player auto turrets before, but they failed, I think.
