This is answered in newbie questions - try reading.

To open the ini files, they need to be decrypted - the easiest, and BEST way is to download and install the SDK to your freelancer fodler. It basically overwrites all the ini files with pre-decompressed/decrypted ones. THis means you CAN open them with a text editor.

Then see the sticked thread sayings its got it all for the location of files you need, and get started. The line your after is obvious, its

price = 550401

Search the files for
price =
and it will go from one to another.

Don't know what is what? Use subxeros misc database, availabel in the downloads section, sort by categories, and nav to second to last page of downloads to find it. You will be able to match nicknames in the files with what they are in game using that.

There is all the info you need - anything further, or problems? Check the thread saying its got it all.

Freelancer/data/equipment/goods.ini for ships Weaponsgoods.ini for wep prices and so forth. look for the ones marked Goods and you will have the ones to modify.

As a newbie, you would probably not know that word is not good to use on these files once decrypted. Even if you save again as "text", there are several types of text files and word, or you, may pick the wrong one. Notepad is better if that is all you have, but I would download a different editor like UltraEdit32 which saves in the correct text format, gives you the ability to open many files in the same editor at the same time, view several files on the same page if you like and can even put in line numbers for bug hunting when using FLIA (which is a download from the utilities forum) and comes in handy for unexpected crashes. If you don't want to download UltraEdit32, which will eventually require you to purchcase it, there are several other good text only editors available for download if you google for them. You will be a much happier puppy with a better text editor for this and other purposes... I promise! If you do not want to get the 1.4 SDK (also in the downloads and utitlites forums) then you must get a copy of BINI, or BINI LITE (same sources) in order to decrypt your files. It will not overwrite your originals, but instead makes a text file like... goods.ini.txt which you can edit to your heart's content and then rename "goods.ini" after renaming the original to something like "goods.ini.old" Life will become enriched, you will be enhanced, pretty girls will vie for your attention, and all will be right with the world! While you are at it, you should read (seriously... I mean it) the stickied thread at the top of this editing forum that says "its got it all". Then download the other recommended files like FLed_ids and others that will allow you to edit and save new weapons, ships, and other equipment and then... Presto... you will become a "modder" overnight. Oh well... in a day or two anyway.
