How do I change the starting ship for my server??

Greetings,
Ok so I have been all over these forums and such for 3 days now trying to find something addressing this issue.. I want to give my players something better than a StarFlyer with pop guns..

The one post I thought might help didnt work. I cant find that post thread again, and am getting rather frustrated. I do know that the question was asked about 5 times in that post with no answer given, like the person giving advice was just ignoring that question all together..

So, long story short, how do I change what ship my server uses for new characters??

Now i suggest you use that search function, but make sure its POINTING at the RIGHT forums!! Tutorials and this one should sort you - although the server forum also contains a thread or two as well!!!!

FYI I dod uuse the search mode several times.. it kept sending me to the same tutorial forum that had ship change info deleted.. Sorry if I got uppidy, but I was tired of running search strings only to come up with the same answers..

Thanks again, and thank you to the forum for putting up with NooB's like me!!

Now.. how do I get the INI file decoder to install?? the BiniQDU install file keeps tellign me I have outdated files on my PC.. When I tell it ok, replace them, it reboots the PC without having fixed anything..

Is there another INI decoder I can use??

The sdk - its in downloads, but also in any post linked from front page. It is basically all the files pre-decoded for you.

Otherwise, just cause i am in a very strange happy mood, i have uploaded the very basic "Bini.exe" file in a zip file. Download it, unzip it and you will see the bini.exe file. Now copy it into the directory of the ini file your editing, and then drag the ini file ONTO the bini.exe icon - and release. It will create a "ini.txt" file of your file - eg.

newcharacter.ini and also newcharacter.ini.txt

So you have a copy - but in TEXT!!! Now, delete the newcharacter.ini file - and open the newcharacter.ini.txt file with a text editor (notepad!). Now click on "save as" and rename it to newcharacter.ini, and then select the file type as "ALL" instead of TEXT (*.txt). You will now have an ini file again - but its decoded and ready for use. Now delete the bini.exe and delete the newcharacter.ini.txt file - and get working!!
