Making files smaller

I know there's an answer to this out there, because I made a suggestion to it.
I've spent the last 30 minutes or more sending a battle audio clip to someone else on the team, and it's still only a third of the way complete. It was in a compressed folder.
If it's going to take this long for just one audio clip in a compressed file, it will take a very long time for the whole mod to be downloaded. So how can I make video and audio clips even smaller?

not sure what`s best ..
but maybe look for "virtual-dub" (it`s quite good and i think easy to get)

as you know there`s audio+video and both can be compressed ..
try with different codecs ..
i prefer divx video compression and for audio .. not sure how many codecs the program can do, but you`ll find out .. get a good balance of quality and size ..

good luck

Thanks both of you. I'll try it, but...

Problem is that FL probably doesn't work with DivX, although I'm not sure of that. The only thing I can think of is re-encoding it in different formats (mp3 is good to drop those frequencies that no one can hear), then re-encode it back to one that FL supports.

Wavepad is good for compressing sounds to small sizes. I use it to make audio effects. Try messing with the different output styles...Note: you may have to download a couple codecs if you are missing some.
