help with a cruise mod

ive looked thorugh all info regarding cruise mods
and i have managed to warp beyond things lol.... but ive changed the
CRUISE_DISRUPT_TIME = 5 <----i changed to to a lower number like 1 so that the cruise would kick right in..but it dont lol it just goes at normal rate to kick in anything im doing wrong or need to do

all help would be really apreciated

CRUISE_DISRUPT_TIME is the time your engine stays disrupted after being hit by a cruise disruptor. The constant you want is in the section for each individual engine (in engine_equip.ini), change "cruise_charge_time" to a different value.

Make the 5 be a 1 in the bold line, and you will have a 1 second cruise time.
Increasing this line:
max_force = 48000
Will make it fly faster in normal speed - so 72000 = around 120 or something

This line is how fast it can go backwards compared to forwards - at 0.2 of the speed (1/5th!)
reverse_fraction = 0.200000

how do i tell which engine belongs to which ship? and does this affect NPCs as well?

Download the Freelancer misc database. It shows you what nickname belongs to which ship. The engine for the bw_fighter (=dagger), for example, is then named bw_f_engine01 or something like that, not so hard to figure.

EDIT: Oh, and this automatically affects NPCs if you don't change their loadouts (i.e. dont give them other engines but the default ones).
