help!! weapon power usage!!

I have been trying for ages now to do the following..

I have created a countermeasure that acts like a bomb, it basicly fires off and explodes doing 0 damage to u but anything around u blows up, great for mining

What i need to know is how can i make the power usage of it very high, infact maximum so that once fired u have to wait for it to regen b4 u can use it and any other weapons u may have..

Ive looked into weapons ini's and found

power_usage = 39.0000 (etc)

i have tried changing this setting to like -1 or 100000000 but seems to have no affect but when i set it to 800 it reduces the power somewhat but not enough to make u have to wait and fire again...

as this weapon would b used on all ships i need a way of draining all power when the weapon is fired

any ideas?

A weapon can only drain one particular amount of energy per shot. I'm afraid there's no way to make it drain all your energy no matter what ship you're in. To do that, you'd have to make every ship have the same generator, which is a bad idea

Why not change the refire rate???? Sooooooooooooooooooooo much easier. Refire rate is 1/amount of shots per second.

So for 1 shot in ten seconds it will be 10
For 8 shots a second, its 0.12

I thought of that a first but my idea is once this weapon has been fired.
I dont want anyweapons to b fired untill power is recharded, acting like a kinda super weapon.

also is it possible to have a mine that targets a specific item on a ship eg thrusters or shields..??

You can't make a weapon that stops other weapons from firing. As soon as you have enough energy, other weapons can fire. You can't stop them from doing that, unless you choose not to fire.

And to your question, I think not

if you were only allowed use of this weapon on 1 ship, the ship could be allowed a custom powerplant which you could edit to have a slow recharge time.

Excerlent idea, ok now can someone expand on how i make the weapon fit only 1 ship type?

give the power useage of the weapon a stupidly high value so that no other power plant can use it, and give your custom power plant a high energy value so that only it can run it.

just an idea off the top of my head...

Make the weapon have NO weapon_goods.ini entry - that way they cannot see it. Now mount it on the loadout in the goods.ini file on one of the hardpoints for that ship (like HpWeapon01).

Now go to the shiparch.ini file and remove the HpWeapon01 reference for that ship (so that players cannot see the mount etc).

Now you have a non transferable, unmountable weapon. By the way, if you have the power usage set to max it should take the power of the plant down. SOmethign is wrong if it doesn't.

again thx 4 the info,
chips, how would i make it so, i can have the wep buyable but only fit 1 ship
something to do with hp type i think, how i create a new hp type just for my wep?
this way i can allow it to mount any ship i want as long as the ship has a compatible hp type ??

also whats max power for the std ship u get at start of fl, as 800 power usage seems to reduce it but not enough

you cant create new HP's you gotta work with what you are given

if you took away all level 10 hp's from ships and replaced them with lvl 9 ones then changed the gun hp's accordingly, you would then be left with a lvl10hp mount that you could use soley for your weapon

or you can remove the Hp entries of that particular hardpoint in shiparch.ini

yes... but that weapon will only be available for that ship... you can always make it indestructible ...
