How do I finish a ship mod?

I've been working on a ship (my first) and I'm stuck. How do I export it out of Milkshape and into FL? Have not yet done the hardpoints, because I don't know how, and what are all those .mat, .cmp, .sur, .3db files?

If anyone can help (or finish it for me), please do so. Give me an email adress and I will send you it.

Check drizzt's tutorial, there are several stages.

First export the .cmp file into a ship folders of *your choice* (Make your own if you like, as long as it's under data/ships/), then create the .mat file for your texture, and add that to the same folder, or one you remember.

Then you create your ship architecture (Which points to the model and texture files inside) and goods data etc, which then is used to add your ship to the game.

Drizzt's tutorial covers all this.

How come there is no export --> Freelancer cmp in Milkshape 1.7.1? There seem to be it in 1.66...

Is there any way of exporting it in 1.7.1?

the exporter is in the download section of this site.
look there - u might need to search for it.
make sure to get the latest version.

I've downloaded cmp exporter 2,1 and the mat exporter 1,01. are those the latest ones?

How do you make a new cockpit. I've noticed that all the cockpits inn the ship mods are original Freelancer cockpits. Is it even possible to create your own?

PS. Not that I use the cockpit view...

yes, its possible.
grab the cmp-importer as well (only works on milkshape 1.6.6)
import a cockpit cmp or 3db and u will see how they are made.
