Idea

I was sitting around thinking, and with all of these larger, obviously multicrewed ships.......why not have a mod with the ability to actually Purchase Crew members. Have unique ones that give different boosts to different parts of the ship. IE, you could hire a guy that just got laid off at a DSE base, and with his engineering skills, you get a boost in Engine Power, upping Speed slightly, and other enhancements alight better armor, within the limits of the FL engine. Or maybe find a way that if you hire a guy off a Junker or Pirate base, and say.....they find ways to store more cargo, Alla-Millenium Falcon.


I dunno, it sounds kinda foolish....but I figure....why not!

Interesting idea. . . it can be done - just change the infocards, descriptions, icons for the powerplant, sensors, and armor equipment (assuming you already have buyable armor upgrades and powerplants and sensors). Make them be discriptions and icons of people instead of equipment.

I like the idea....a lot I've made some freighters for my mod that have 3 visible pilots in them, and was considering making somthing like this, but was never sure how. My aim was cybernetic "pilot/gunner" addons for "you" as the main pilot...If you ever play either DogFight Mod, or Asgard mod, you would see the ships and know what i mean

but yes, great idea

when u purchase someone e.g a gunner, it makes the ship automatically shoot at an enemy (providing you have a turret) while still fighting another bloke

It's been determined that we can't get automatic turrets unless we get the source code. And before you ask about that, no, we aren't getting that either. Which means we need to do things like .sur files ourselves.Fun? No, not really.

You can set a turret's "autofire" value to true which means it automatically fires at opponents. You could use this as a substitute - buying special "gunner" turrets instead of normal ones

I thought it was established that the "autofire" setting did NOT in fact, set a gun to fire on it's own. Matter of fact, i'm next to positive i read that from Chips.

most wont work , been trying to have 2 powerplants mounted at the same time and didn't worked out like it should have worked.
as for the engine boost , you can not have 2 engines without having a weird engine kill effect

for more than one engine, you could just use thrusters, such as make the name and such of a thruster changed, and make the thrusters combinable so you could stack on as many as you can buy... however, you would have to make them dam* expensive as to keep someone that makes money fast from simply buying like a hundred of them and going past the warp threshold... sounds like fun, right?

speakin of that... I think im gonna try setting cruise speed to like 100,000 to see how it works out... I hope my pilot has a strong grip na just kiddin but it would be interesting
