my new faction won''t engage enemies

i have added a new faction. it all works fine except they wont engage the enemies ive given them. yes the numbers are all right (ie. -0.65 is used for enemies) but yeah they wont engage. any ideas? it would be greatly appreciated

got a scanner fitted on them? they need one to detect enemys. i once forgot and spent ages wondering why they just flew about not reacting to anyone who attacked them.

Did you add the faction to newplayer.fl and mpnewcharacter.fl. If you have done this you also have to start a new game and can't use old savegames. They won't attack each other if you don't start a new game from the main menu (Use OpenSP, if you don't want to play the story again).

yep they have got a scanner. but how do i edit newplayer.fl? it wont open in wordpad like mpnewplayer.fl did. btw i added the faction to mpnewplayer just not newplayer

when i added my first faction i only modified the below files in order to see them and have them react..

EXE\mpnewcharacter.fl
DATA\initialworld.ini
DATA\MISSIONS\empathy.ini
DATA\MISSIONS\faction_prop.ini

though i dont play in sp mode. saying that i dont think that newplayer.fl needs touching even for sp mode, i could be wrong however.

other thought.. is your new faction rep added to all factions (be that 0 or -0.65, 0.65 or whatever) or just that to whom you wish as an enemy? i added mine to all factions (i.e. appeneded db_m_grp set to 0 on all factions, then tweaked friends and enemys).

last thought.. are they sharing friends? someone once said this can sometimes cause a problem, but i dont think they said what problem it caused. a crash or pehaps enemys that wont fight each other??

The newplayer.fl can be edited with the "FL Save Editor" or the "Simple Save Editor" (search for the downloads here on lancersreactor). And also be sure to start a new game. I also used old savegames and my new faction did not attack their enemies. So start a new game!

ok well, i tried it in multiplayer just then and they engage. the only problem with that is they wont exit out of formation. could the problem be that im using the OpenSP mod? ive read elsewhere that some people have had that problem but can anyone else confirm that please? if not ill try it for myself when i get bak from school.

i just tried it in single player without OpenSP and it didnt work. i even redid the 4 files dabar said he modified to make them react but still no change. they just dont want to engage. if anyone has anymore ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

(Use OpenSP, if you don't want to play the story again).


I haven't tried using it with The Reckoning 2.5 because it shows as incompatible in FLMM 1.3. :/

Do they both work at the same time?
