Nomad Encounters never working

Hello,
I have read all the forums and posts about this subject on LR now; I have tried adding Nomad gunboats and battleships for about a full 36 hours, and I have absolutely nothing to show for it, progress-wise. So please don't say, "Read the FAQs or the 'Got-it-all' forum" -- I have, and I've tried to get this working for the past day and a half.
I can get fighters without so much as a hitch (I have given them shields now) but these capships just WILL NOT appear anywhere. I'm trying to get them in Ew05 (Outcast Unknown).
Here is what I have; if anyone can see the problem, I would be most appreciative if they could give me a hand:

In this zone, I get nothing except more and more Order (I added it to the Rep list and its own fighters), Outcast, and Nomad fighters - NO capships whatsoever.
If anyone can see what I have wrong, I would again be very grateful for any help. I have tried putting this encounter into the Zone around Manhattan as other people have done successfully, but I still get nothing there.

So whats the formation file look like? And it won't help when your encounter parameter reference in the file points to this particular file - which the game would wonder about:

area_battleships.in

Surely an ini file would be better.

Lets see the rest of this, as its pointless to post up half and expect people to find your errors!

Oh - te formation you have given them, the encounter file you have for them, etc etc.

Hi Rogue!
In my mod I have working Nomad capship encounters, so I think I know how to do them.
At first I think that you should make new encounter files and not use the existing area_gunboats and area_battleships (I'm not really sure if there are such files in the original game?). Your new encounter files should look like this:

I named this file "capitalships_nomads.ini, because there are 5 gunboats and a battleship in it. You also have to add these lines to shipclasses.ini for that, because the original game does not know sc_battleships and sc_gunboats:

The secon thing is, that there is no battleship_wall formation in the original game. As you have this formation in your faction_prop.ini, you also need it in formations.ini. It should look like this:

If you take the number of each faction, together it should be 1.
So you could make:

faction = fc_ou_grp, 0.200000
faction = fc_n_grp, 0.500000

Of course, if you have one faction several times it will be more:

faction = fc_or_grp, 0.300000
faction = fc_ou_grp, 0.200000
faction = fc_n_grp, 0.500000
faction = fc_n_grp, 0.500000

I hope this helps! If not, post the entries in all of these files and I will look through it again.

Basically, redo the part for battleship encounters tutorial by Nephilim to use the nomad ships instead, and give it to nomad faction :p. At least you have something to follow at that point

Yes! Thanks so much, guys! I am not 100% certain what was wrong with my files, but I think it was probably my encounter file. I must have had the wrong think in this line (I still don't know what this means/points to, though):
"formation_by_class = battleships"

But I do have encounters now! Thanks so very much for the help, but I have one more question: If I make more ships in the encounters file, like this (this is the encounter file that works now):

Is this a valid format? And if so, Do I need to change anything else to make this work? If this is wrong, could you perhaps give me a pointer as to how I can have about 3 or 4 battleships in an encounter? Or is that even possible?

Again, I am so very thankful for the help; these Nomad Battleships and Gunboats, equipped with capitalship shields, new turrets, Nomad Cruise Disruptors, and Nomad Torpedoes are boatloads of fun to fight!! That will spawn a fleet of 1 lead battleship and between 1 to 7 escorts, and another fleet of 1 lead gunboat escorted by 1 to 7 wingsnakes. Happy hunting.
