How to make a ship a base?

Do anyone know how to make a ship i've made in MS3D a base?

what i would do:

- check inside the cmp of an existing and simple base what hardpoints you need.
- add these HPs to ur model.

biggest problem that you will encounter is the collision file of a base (.sur file).

while it works fine for ships to take a similar one, you will hardly find one that fits to a custom base. when moving around with ships and bumping into things you also dont notice it that much. but when a player approaches a base and either can fly through parts of it or bounces off by invisible barriers its weird.

to sum it up:
its the hardpoints what u need to make a base form a model.

ah, and this is all plain theory
