The Republic Mod

If you saw the News item, you'll understand what the Republic Mod is. It's a Star Wars mod I've been making, and the news post was asking for assistance in creating it. I'll be making another news post soon asking for some other types of editors, e.g. mission, character, etc.
But I want to ask a few questions on possibility.
1) Is it possible to change the look of the jumpgate sequence? i.e. the blue hyperspace-look?
2) Is it possible to create new base characters? By which I mean their appearance/clothing?
3) Is it possible to change the look of people when you hail them in space?
4) In new systems, hailing people will result in them cutting off with the system name and base name. Is there any way at all to get a voice in there? Even if it's not that person's voice? Maybe one sounding like a robot
5) Is it possible to get any of the following missions: Escort, Trading, Long Range Hunts (i.e. having to search through a system for someone you're supposed to hunt down, or maybe in more than one system), Patrol, or Capital Ship attack missions?

1) Yes. Look in the files data\fx\jumpeffect.ini, data\fx\gate_tunnel.ini, and data\fx\effects.ini how it's done, it's pretty much self-explaining.

2) I don't know if / how you can edit their 3d-model, but you can certainly re-skin them. Use the UTF-editor to open a dfm-file where a body (costume) is stored. Under the node Texture Library, you see three nodes (called something like xxx_xxxx_1.tga) containing 9 branches called MIP0, MIP1 etc. to MIP8; these contain the 3 tga files of the body texture, at different levels of detail (MIP0 is 256x256 pixels, MIP1 is 128x128, MIP2 is 32x32 pixels etc.). If you rename a dfm then you can replace textures (import with the UTF-editor), and add a reference to it in data\characters\bodyparts.ini (as far as I know, you cannot use the DDS format with bodies. That would havesaved you the effort of creating all the smaller versions)
