Ship speed variations

was wondering if anyone new if there is a mod that alters the speed of ships, so that each ship has is own max speed... or even a mod that involves buying engine upgrades

just go into the

data\equipment\engine_equip.ini and change the values....

[Engine
nickname = ge_bf_engine_01
ids_name = 263690
ids_info = 264690
volume = 0.000000
mass = 10
max_force = 48000 <--------- change this number to anything ya want
linear_drag = 599
power_usage = 0
reverse_fraction = 0.200000
flame_effect = gf_br_smallengine01_fire
trail_effect = gf_br_smallengine01_trail
trail_effect_player = gf_br_smallengine01_playtrail
cruise_charge_time = 5
cruise_power_usage = 20
character_start_sound = engine_br_fighter_start
character_loop_sound = engine_br_fighter_loop
character_pitch_range = -50, 25
rumble_sound = rumble_fighter
rumble_atten_range = -5, 0
rumble_pitch_range = -25, 25
engine_kill_sound = engine_br_fighter_kill
cruise_start_sound = engine_br_cruise_start
cruise_loop_sound = engine_br_cruise_loop
cruise_stop_sound = engine_br_cruise_stop
cruise_disrupt_sound = cruise_disrupt
cruise_backfire_sound = cruise_backfire
indestructible = false
outside_cone_attenuation = -3
inside_sound_cone = 60
outside_sound_cone = 180

that number represents the total speed your ship goes; 48000 is 80 on your speedometer thing....if i am not mistaken 80000 is 113

also to make ships go REALLY fast just edit the constants.ini and add this line

[EngineEquipConsts
CRUISE_DISRUPT_TIME = 5
MAX_DELTA_FX_THROTTLE = 0.250000
THROTTLE_STEADY_TIME = 0.500000
THROTTLE_ATTEN_MOD_RANGE = 8.000000
DELTA_THROTTLE_ATTEN_MOD_CHANGING = 8.000000
DELTA_THROTTLE_ATTEN_MOD_STEADY = -1.000000
CRUISE_STEADY_TIME = 2.000000
DELTA_CRUISE_ATTEN_MOD_STEADY = -1.000000
CRUISE_ATTEN_MOD_RANGE = 8.000000
CRUISING_SPEED = 2000 <-------- makes ships haul ass in cruise mode

You can also put that cruise_speed up well past what would seem normal and create a 'warp' engine that allows you to pass through almost anything

max_force = 48000
linear_drag = 599

this two is the ones you should edit... 48000/599 = 80

a message from firebase...

hey Sunstalker.....may i ask what the linear drag does?? what are the effects of a higher or lower linear drag?

thanks for your time

it is actually the combination of linear drag and max force which gives a ship a top speed.

48000/600 = 80 mps

however 24000/300 also = 80. In regular flight the ships are the same speeds, BUT in regards to afterburners these two methods of geting the same speed will cause much different values for your max afterburn speed. The lower the linear drag, the faster you zoom zoom when you hit the burners
