new infocard icons?

After reading all the tutorials I can now cleanly slide a new ship into the game, and get the infocards to read correctly. But I can't find anyone talking about how to tweak that infocard to show a new custom icon of the new ship graphic.

Can anyone help or point me in a good direction for this one? Thanks.

if you have your icon ready , you can place it "equipment\models\commodities\nn_icons\YOURICON.3db
" in your mod folder

then in the entry you created in the "goods.ini"

[Good
nickname = YOURSHIP_hull
category = shiphull
ship = YOURSHIP
price = 10400
ids_name = 12003
item_icon = Equipment\models\commodities\nn_icons\YOURICON.3db <--refers to the icon you placed

Thanks Heavy B - that seems simple enough. Now I have to ask a dumb question - I tried to open one of the existing .3db files in that directory with both Milkshape 1.7 and the latest Gmax, with no success.

What program can read a .3db file?

Sorry to be a pain, but I really do appreciate the help.

UTF editor - Osprey outlines all this in his excellent icon making tutorial. Suggest you take a peek, as you extract the image from the existing files, or put your image into one file, and rename/reorientate the references to the image in the file as well (ie - you don't make them!)

thanks for the help - now I found it. Believe it or not if you search in the forum editing tutorial forum for "icon" or "infocard icon" you don't find it, but with your tip I looked for 0sprey and my wildest dreams were answered!

(ok, I admit I have simple dreams).. and I am grateful for your feedback. Thanks again.

I'm a little nervous having my nick associated with wild dreams...
