fighter bays?

fighter bays?

would it be possible to make an add on for the larger ships, battleships etc, that is a hanger for fighters? i guess it would work like a missle, but it would lauch about 6 fighters that would protect you

I don't think so. The archetype of a missile is simply a model, not something that flies as such, the flying bit is all in the weapon entry. You could try replacing it with the file of a small weapon platform first, to see if it would deploy them.

make the model archetype for missiles as a ship - and make them a kamikazee pilot who rams into you - exploding on impact (or is a missile in effect ). Give it a LONG LONG engine time (about a minute) and good turn rate - with only a 120 top speed.....so it flies around after you for a minute or so....now that could be funny.....until they learn to fly behind your battleship whilst the "fighters" fly INTO your battleship

I've been wanting to make this mod myself but have failed consistently lol. The last idea (and i think the only one that might actually work, barring Chips missile idea) would be for SP campaigns only as that is the only way i've seen to dynamically create zones and spawn npc's

Just in case you can make it work - my original idea went like so :

either a) make big zones covering whole systems that will allow fighters to spawn
or b) add the fighter encounters to the existing zones
then c) find some way to spawn the b*ggers without crashing FL
with the fighters to be bought like ammo and left behind after spawning.
