Homing lasers and other questions

Ummmmm..... this is the first time I made a thread so I'm not suprised if it gets locked

but how do I make homing lasers? I have a lot of questions 'bout everything but I won't ask now.

This may not be the best idea. Is your lasers home in on your targets, your target's lasers will also be homing in on you. A whole new set of weapons would have to be made for this idea to work.

To make homing lasers, simply add this section in the [Munition entry of your gun

seeker = LOCK
time_to_lock = 0
seeker_range = 1000
seeker_fov_deg = 35
max_angular_velocity = 2.903330

Those values will give it the homing capacity of a missile, tweak "max_angular_velocity" to make it turn faster or slower

Thanks! However, I can only fire 1 salvo... *sigh* All missiles are like that...
Is it possible to make weapon upgrades? I've seen a weapon upgrade icon somewhere in the Icon Tutorial so I was just wondering... and how do I get the Stalker missile trail for energy weapons?

I don't think you can get the Stalker missile trail on energy weapons if you still want them to have their regular look as well, I think it's all in the "const_effect" line, which there can only be one of

And I don't think you can upgrade weapons without simply buying better guns

How do I get the ships to roll left/right and strafe up/down? All the questions I can think of right now.

Those manoeuvres you see the AI ships doing, like the corkscrew, are impossible to do. It's just one of those things. You're not really missing out - rolling would only conceivably help you in a ship like the Eagle

No, its possible, but imagine having another 6 buttons to press during combat - one to strafe up and down, and four to strafe diagonally up across etc. Now imagine trying to fly, thrust, strafe in two directions, whilst launching a torp/missile and more. I have the "verticle strafe" mod that was made by Greg, and he has given me permission to use it, however, I don't think i will just because its extra buttons that are going to crowd, confuse and complicate flying WITHOUT giving you much in flight changes.....lets face it - its a gimic - not a necessity.

Well, seeing as Reynen knows about the vertical and diagonal strafe, and as he pointed out that he is willing to share and wouldn't hold back knowledge from anyone - ask him to post here how to do it. You will have to give him credit (gregstar2k did the vertical strafe, reynen is diagonal strafe) - but he has no grounds to hold back on now.
