A few questions.

The general place to discuss MOD''ing Freelancer!

A few questions.

I have successfully created 3 new systems with working names, encounters among other things.

I have a couple of questions about system creating/editing, and if possible, some help with populating bases.

1) The navmap. For a LOONG time the navmap has annoyed me. On the Navmap, all my nebulas/asteriod fields and debris fields (with the rare exception once ina while) display on the navmap as a debris field. I have searched, but cannot find anything concerning the navmap like this. Most of my bases also are identical on navmap. Anyone know where I can edit this?

2)Docking Random Encounters. I have sucessfully added tradelane traffic and random encounters throughout my systems, however the one thing I have not sucessfully emulated yet, is getting the AI to dock/moor with stations. I was testing with a friend, he said he saw a train and its escort dock with one of my stations, so I am assuming I am on the right track, after making the zone population type around that base 'single_base_law' (for a navy base). However, that is the only time I have ever recorded an NPC dock with anything, other then lanes, gates and jumpholes. I belive if I decrease repop, relief, and increase density, I will get more ships to dock with stations/planets more frequently, but I have not tested this yet.

3)Bar Npcs. Using FLE I have added over a hundred NPCs to dozens of station bars, and using FLEd-ds, name them. However, some of my base simply wont show any npcs in the bar, other then my bartender. If needed, I will copy the entries in Mbases for those stations and paste them here, upon your request.

I thank anyone in advance for assisting me with the above questions of mine.

ok, I got problem 3 resolved, I REALLY need help one number 1!

anyone who knows anything about 1, I would greatly appreciate your help.

I remember reading in another pretty recent thread about that problem but I can't find it again. It had something to do with the property flag # you find in your [zone entry. I don't remember anything about the [property "flags = " line in the Asteroid folder being mentioned. I'll keep my eye out for that thread and if I find it I'll post back in here.

Ok, thank you. I see the property flag entries, I am gonna try messing with them, copying the one I want into my zone.

Hmm, well even if thats how I get nebula's to display properly, it doesn't help much for bases. All of my bases have the same icon.. and their entries in the system ini have no 'flag' line.

Thanks again for help

Found the thread on nebula property flags. http://www.lancersreactor.com/t/forum/t ... ng&M=False if anyone else wants it.

One more thing left to solve. How do I edit the station icons? I am gonna look at the bases folder.

Anyone?

I got yet another question lol.

When you add a new base, it does not show up in the bases list. I think it has something to do with universe.ini? I am not sure, but I would like some assistance here.

so um.. no one knows?

lol...

I don't know. Have you checked the forum of the folks who put out FLE? Go to the EOA forum and they have a pinned section dedicated to FLE. I'm sure someone else has probably asked this question before. If not you can ask your question of Louva-Deus there.

Edit = Ok, I went in and looked at the navmap, systems and solar files. If you look at your DATA/UNIVERSE/SYSTEMS/BR01 you'll see Br01.ini. Open this and find Br01_01. It has an archetype = planet_earthgrncld_4000.
Go into DATA/SOLAR and find your solararch.ini. Now find that solararch (planet_earthgrncld_4000). You'll notice that the last line in here is "shape_name = NNM_SM_MEDIUM_FOREST_MOON" This line is what I think you have to change to get a new icon.
So now to find your choices go to DATA/INTERFACE/NEURONET/NAVMAP/NEWNAVMAP/SPACEOBJECTS. This is what I think the shape_name is refering to. In here you can see all your choices. I've never tried this so I have no clue if it will work but good luck.

Edit#2 = Oh yeah, for finding something in 20 minutes you couldn't find in 2 days I expect to have a base named after me in your mod.

I was busy doing other things lol
I added missiosn to all my bases today and yesterday I kinda fell asleep lol..,

thanks a bunch for the help!

p.s. Settle for a npc named after you?

NPC? *sigh* Well, if that's all I can get.
Glad I could help. Does this mean you tried it and it worked?
I had posted another long reply from work earlier in the day about your base list problem, but when I got home and tested my SWAG out it turned out I was wrong so I deleted it.
I've got another idea on that issue now. If you look in DATA/INTERFACE and pull up the ini called KnowledgeMap, you'll see that everything that ends up on your navmap is listed in here. I haven't figured out exactly how it works but I think your bases need to be in there in order to end up on your baselist. I could be way off though. I'm playing with it now to see if I can figure out how it operates, but I've had no luck at all.
Have you played any mods that managed to get their bases in the base list? If you can find one you can just email the person who wrote it.
Anyway good luck with your mod.

I have played some mods, but I havent seen anyone sucessfully add anything to the bases list yet.

Post Thu Apr 29, 2004 2:47 am

Well, it's not the KnowledgeMap.ini that causes a base to show up on the Base List. I removed all mention of Li01_02 from the knowledgemap and it still showed up. Sorry I have no clue about that one.

theory for knowledgemap.ini - is this the reference file for knowdb entries used by npcs in mbases.ini?

*edit removed answer already given... doh
