Unmountable Thruster

Hey all,

I am in the middle of making a mod with a friend of mine, neither of us have any experience but we have to start somewhere right? Anyways, all of our knowledge so far is from the tuts and discussion on this forum (thanks! ) Ok so.. In the mod the different ships are going to each have their own unique thruster, i already know how to make thrusters unpurchasable at any base, but I need to know how i can make it so you cannot unmount the thruster your ship comes with when you buy it (or if this is even possible). TIA!

it's possible, just remove the thruster hardpoint line in the shiparch for the ship, and manually add on the thruster in the goods.ini for that hardpoint name you just removed from the shiparch. However, please note, by making it impossible to remove, or buy, if it gets destroyed off the ship you will have to rebuy the ship to get another one. Also, you will have to do this to every player ship, because if you get a ship which you can't unequipt it, then buy a ship without a thruster added on, it will transfer the thruster over. Still though while it won't come equipted on the ship, it will then go into the cargo hold of it, so there by you need to add a large sum of volume to the thruster, like 99999999, it doesn't use any space up when equipted, but when removed it will, and this will force it to be sold at ship transfers.

Erm, simply put it this way.

You have an entry per thruster in the "equip.ini" file (st_equip.ini file that is). That is the part that tells it what its like etc. The entry in the "goods.ini" file is the part that you can "see" or "sell" or "transfer" (st_good.ini), so if you have an entry in st_equip.ini and NOT in st_good.ini, then the thruster can be mounted on a ship when you buy it (specify in the goods.ini package), but they cannot remove/fiddle/sell/transfer it. It works perfectly well, they just cannot do anything about it. You can make as many thrusters as you like using this method, certainly one per ship, and do this
