the .fl file is an encodes text file. there is a download for a program to do this but the source needs editing to make it work. I've emailed a .zip with a working version to you (myflcodec.zip)

ittan - i mailed you before i read these posts - once your .fl file is decoded you will see where the level bit is... rank = <whatever level you want to be>

*edit
ah... my brain hurts - damn vodka forgot to say - haven't tried in SP game but to get over level 40 in MP you'll need to apply M$ update patch - despite what ptough.ini says the maximum level attainable is hardcoded in content.dll

i got the codec from this site use the search function on home page for flcodec

Can the fl codec be improved in any manner to make it more efficient.

what do you mean ittan? the flcodec.exe or the way information is stored by the codec?

If the first - quite honestly mate there is very little point. how often do you want to edit your save game...

If the second then you will have to change the freelancer.exe to accomodate your changes to the file structure. good luck holmes
