Hostile Takeover

Here you can download the first version of my Hostile Takeover program, it runs alongside FL and causes one faction to gradually take over sirius, system by system.

***NOTE***
It requires certain dlls from the .NET framework, which i THINK are included with XP. One of these dll's I have isolated is in the zip file, but there may be others.

To run, extract the files to your Freelancer Directory and run.

Is that faction that takes it over randomized?

Post Tue Mar 30, 2004 2:34 pm

does it work multiplayer? I really like the idea, i'm going to try it out and I'll tell you what i think.

And can the takeover be altered by player interference? That'd be another nice way to have multiplayer wars.

no, you can choose which faction does it, and no it probly doesnt work on mp, since it would just get you booted.

this is an early version and i will improve it

i meant would it work if the server ran it. and would it work if the server and all the players playing ran it.

if the players choose the same faction, and it always takes over in the same way, then it would work. but if the places it takes over are in random order, then it won't. thats what i was curious about.

no its random atm, although i can make another version that isnt random, but the server and client would need to start at the same time with the same time interval

what if you got them to syncronize? it could still be random, with the server's program being the one that is random, and it sending out the random data it decided to the clients... i realize this is quite a bit more complex, but im just kicking up some ideas.

That would make one heck of a big lag party...

well im not sure whether that is possible, lag is one problem, but also it would take a heck of a lot of programming
