Cargo Pods and Player Ships.
I'm working on a mod that accentuates the Rich, Fat Traders and the Pirates who love them. I have made all transport class ships playable and added cargo pods to them by putting them in as addons to the ship's loadout in goods.ini, this works fine and looks cool. While test flying a transport, i was relieved of one of my cargo pods by the Lane Hackers, and saw that "surprise" half of my cargo was gone along with half of the capacity to refill it.
Of course, this typically got my brain going in yet another modding direction. Since i added the cargopods in the ini to hardpoints (HpCargo) which turns up as a "external equipment" item, would it be possible to make bases sell cargopods that can be remounted?
As Pirate players, many of us have learned to "unzip" the transports rather than kill the whole ship due to it causing more drop and less rep damage. This seemed to me to be an excellent possible exploit to add another layer to the RPG aspects of the multiplayer game, but I haven't been able to make it happen. (As far as making the cargopods buyable/mountable)
Without being able to replace the cargopods, i'd have to just leave them off so that players don't lose cargo capacity every time they're attacked, not to mention the "unfixable damage" always showing up at the repair/equip screen.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I'd rather be the Hammer than the Nail
