A MOD?

Is there a SP MOD out there that:

1. Doesn't have tons of ships from other univereses (ST/Sw/B5...etc...)

2. Serves to provide a more realistic, balanced and fun experience

3. Has new hose ships/weapons

4. Has modification to story missions

If there is one, I'll be intereseted in joining
If not, I just might try to make one..
So far I've been fiddling around and have:

1 new system, 3 new ships, several new weapons and equipment
All gunboats, cruiser and Battleship have shields and better armamanet (including in story missions)
I modifiyed some story missions (slightly - like making the Harmony have shields and is at 50% hull at the begining of the mision, the Rheinland bombers carrying heavier guns and missiles (all other ships too), the Xt19 beeing less damaged, but the Rouges are more deadly, Pueblo station is attacked by 4 fighters now(normally they would just fly around and ignore the station), etc...)
Edited the speed of ships, NPC's use normal shields, given docking rings/tradelanes and bases FAR better armament, made allmost all solars destructable

I'm still experimenting with some files and trying to learn more...


Which reminds me...I got a really strange bug...I made my own system..I eneter it normally and fly around and shoot at things, and I can dock on the planet and buy things and all rooms work o.k., but when I want to leave the planet, the game chrashes durin the loading phase...W.T.F?

Erm, you can download my Open SP mods to help out a bit if you wish, it has npc shields regen, flying all ships (FL ones anyways) docking fixed (Victor), Nano bots/shield bats, battleship encounters, battleship missions and such like. Feel free to use it to learn how things were done.

You could join my mod FL:Fallen Universe (see link in my sig)

Its a sequelish-mod, and we're probably going to edit the sp missions, we also need loads of ships that are FL-style.

It will hopefully be quite realistic, but it is still in progress so feel free to sign up at the forums (link in sig) or email me [email protected]

I'm a very experienced modder (have modded hunderds of games) and allways have plenty of good ideas...

If you plan to make your mod multiplayer compatible I'd watch out for destructible solars. If you blow up a base and someone is on it (and possibly isn't even logged into the server at the moment, but had last saved there) it will crash the server. There have been some more indepth posts about this, and why it happens. I don't think there is a currently known way to make it either just kill the player(s) on the base and respawn them to another base (next closest, last saved etc), and from my own experience looking through the game files, I haven't seen anything that could help with this problem.

But if it's single player only it might work out (as long as you don't destroy a base that the story missions require).

Big deal....that can be solved by havein two SolarArch.ini files...one for Single Player and the other when you want to play multi....

Cruiser1 and the Light fighter are really, really hot. Keep it up man.
