help with skining

hey guys i need a little help here, i can model my ships fine (email me if u wanna see a screen dump) but i cant texture my ships for sh*t so i was wondering if any dudes out there could either a) teach me how 2 texture my ships or b) show me a tute for it.

i am in the middle of writing a script for a mod it will have 6 different factions and i have already come up with the faction names and 33 ship names, there will be a total of 49 ships in the mod (well the first version anyway), i have modeled 4 ships already so i kinda need to know sum of this stuff if this mod is ever to get off the ground


and after i have posted one of the finished faction ship sets for you to all see i will be looking around for some dudes to help with the mod but as i havn't released anything i dont expect anyone to help

by the way i'm using 3D Studio Max 6.0 not gmax so i can do everything i needed to do in milkshape in 3DS max

Why not use the render to texture. First things first, use the UV Map Modifier to create a simple Texture of your ship then use the render to Texture command. in that way you can texture it easily...
