The general place to discuss MOD''ing Freelancer!

in case of CMP there are various cmp file extensions and ms cant copyright the name itself
not to mention that cmp is an ordinary utf container (something which is used by many other tools)

even if this would be a problem then only MS can tell use to stop modding but in this case MS and everybody else would still have 0 rights on the models... they can only tell us not to use cmps any longer

I recently checked the list and I saw that my mod (Ultimative-FL) was set to 2.1. But I actually requested 2.10. That´s quite a difference.

NOTE: The mod has been renamed to "Order Evolution"

I, for one, appreciate this thread and the efforts behind it. Having a unique version number and {exclusive = "true"} in the script.xml means no one without your mod can join it and crash the server with incompatible files.

But, it has been 9 months since the list was updated. If the author is no longer around, could an admin be so kind as to make an update please?

My mod is only a short time away from release. I have reserved 2.22 --> 2.27.
Just an fyi for everyone, freelancer will accept 3 decimal points. I have been having successful alpha tests with version 2.220, 2.221 and 2.222. The small range I have requested still gives me a total of 60 builds over the next few years.

Thanks!

I'd like to claim version 2.21 under the name Slyke Freelancer, if that's ok.

Just a thought why not recycle your mod versions once you run out instead of asking for more?

Say for instance your mod had reserved 0.1- 0.9 you have just reached v0.99 why not go back to 0.1 again? It will not be that confusing for people unless you change your mod every week or month.

Is this a good Idea? Because soon we may not have any versions left at the rate they are being used up? Many have not even posted here that are on servers.

There's no need for that. In my experience, you can have a mod stay at the same version forever - you just change the other numbers with Reshacker (such as the build, etc).

Mod 1:
FILEVERSION 4,0,1254,6
PRODUCTVERSION 4,0,1254,6

Mod 1, but with a patch:
FILEVERSION 4,0,1254,8
PRODUCTVERSION 4,0,1254,8

When Asgard did this, no one with build 6 could connect to the server if we were running build 8, even though at the lower right of the main menu and on the Select Server screen, they each showed 4.0. So I don't think we'll ever "run out of version numbers" (not to mention some mods that had version numbers don't even exist anymore)...And please don't tell me this doesn't work unless you've done it yourself.

I want 2.9 for "Icaria Sector" please (If this is still maintained).
