made first ship model...can I.....?

instead of like going the all the coding and stuff.........is there anyway i can just like use a ship thats already in the game and just put my model in its place?

thanks in advance.

Also.......I like modeling ships, but dont want to do all the other stuff.

Anyone out there who would like throw in the stuff to complete the ships after I model them?

Its not that i cant figure it all out or anything......its more a time issue.

Well, big question first.........instead of making a whole ship info card and all the files and stuff, can i just put my model in place of one of the existing ships in the game?

DA_archetype = ships\liberty\li_fighter\li_fighter.cmp
material_library = ships\liberty\li_playerships.mat
material_library = fx\envmapbasic.mat
envmap_material = envmapbasic

so that would say be the entire contents of the MAT file when Im finished then?

man Im hoping like i can just make them like that........i really like the model i have so far........but after looking at all the other work I know i dont have the time to sit and get that all down at this point.........

lol - i know NARRTHING about making ships - so ask a ship modeler. I don't know how the mat files work etc, BUT if you have made one which has a mat file and stuff -then you only need to change the two files....CMP and the mat file (forget the two below that sorry) and you will see your model ingame.........

captain howdy....3 things every ship needs

.cmp - the model file...exportable through milkshape

.mat - the texture (material) file - created using UTF

.sur - the surface file...use one from a ship that is about the size as yours

what chips is saying is export your cmp as the same name as the cmp of a standard freelancer model...and do the same with the .mat...if you do that you wont need to code it...to test it anyway
