Hp/Fixed/HpCockpit

ok here goes anywone have some insight into these bugger-boo's
I have the cockpit view (ctrl-v) working in several of my models but I have a new ship that just doesn't want to work right.... in several senses it is a sphere and the cockpit point is on the inside of the ship. but I cannot get the orientation corect on it... when you switch to cockpit view it seems like you are looking at planet pittsburg from the middle of the new york system.

so does anyone have any idea what I am talking about? or am I the only one who cares about these thingys.... duno... if I can get it to wrok I will put in a tutorial with the specs... till then...

what does the "cockpit = " line look like?
have u used an existing cockpit? check the names for typos.

or do u use a custom cockpit?
in this case post the cockpit's ini - maybe then someone can help.

I do not believe that this a .ini problem as much as it is a orentation or position or size of the face that the Hp/Fixed/HpCockpit is renamed to... I think I must be missing something... I am useing the default liberty cockpit.. for the both of them... but when you get in game and you switch to cockpit view those 2 go nutso they look like you are looking at your target from about 2k behind you and it is all fisheyed.....

@illero: does ur view move with teh ship or is it fixed? if its fixed its most likely an ini error (typo).

creating custom cockpits:

i will only handle the ini-part of it (not hte cmp - i just use existing ones, but those can also be custom made)


somewhere in shiparch.ini (in the section of ur ship):
...
cockpit = cockpits\liberty\l_gunship.ini
...

in the data\cockpits\liberty directory u create a file named l_gunship.ini
this will contain the cockpit and also the turret view info

something like this:
[Cockpit
mesh = cockpits\liberty\models\li_freighter_cockpit.cmp ;<---- the "look" of the cockpit interior
int_brightness = 0.500000
head_turn = 45, 10

[CockpitCamera

[TurretCamera
tether = 0.000, 20, 105 ; <-- offset of the turret view, in this case 20 up and 105 back
yaw_rotate_speed = 2.000000
pitch_rotate_speed = 1.500000
accel_speed = 5

thats it, there u go with a selfmade cockpit. I suggest to make a custom cockpit entry for each custom ship, this way u can set the turret settings for each one individually.
